The other day, it was my first time stepping into VivoCity.
And oh lordy! Is that place huge or what?! It was so monsterously humongous!
Ok maybe my experience with big shopping centres are limited, if i compare this to KLCC or Mid Valley Mall, its nothing compare to those two. Because i was never as impress as i am with Vivocity!

I got lost while trying to look for the cineplex! It took me almost 15-20mins i think to finally found it, i was walking from one end to the other end amidst the large crowd. The first few minutes, i was struggling and got frustated because i know i wont break fast in time, and well it wasnt nice to keep someone waiting for me (though i doubt he doesnt know how guilty i felt), but as i walked and walked the gigantic place simply amaze me. There were so so so many shops i tell you that i dont know to cry, laugh, hop or kneel and worship them.. Until it hit me! This place is no good at all!
Its like the whole of orchard road congregate at Vivocity to combine its ultimate spending power for all shopping whores! Seriously, you are going to spoilt yourself over there, you will go over your spending limits..Why? With Forever21 and Top Shop right next to each other, and US favourite retail store GAP made available, Club Marco opening soon(!), EVERYWOMAN made convenient for we ladies who digs pretty little things, Shoe shops is like every 5 shops away, Now now you tell me? How can you resist everything under one roof, and if you are the kind that simply cannot see beautiful things, you my dear are in a very big trouble! The moment you purchase something from a shop you are not going to be happy because the moment you come across another shop you might want to spend spend and spend! I bawled my eyes and gritted my teeth in contempt and not succumb to any temptation!

Despite coming to a conclusion that i foresee myself having a love hate relationship with Vivocity (though i really dislike the name,it sounds too tacky), i forgave all the bad inconvenience like, map is not user friendly, food courts are too far off away from cineplex,so if you plan to take a bite,it'll be a long walk unless you will be dining in at a restaurant which you have so many choices to choose from, toilet a bit of a disappointment but with all the nice shops that grace the shopping mall, your heart will go tender..
I have already made my desires known both to Elfy and Baidah, so soon it shall be!
Risk bringing your man along, unless he does his shopping too!

*Ok Vivocity ought to cut me a paycheck aye?!

*************

So i went to watch The Departed (click for synopsis of the movie)at the new cineplex at Vivocity which claims to have the biggest theatre GVMAX (if i dont get it wrong), and well yes we got to watch the movie at that theatre.

The point is not to talk about the theatre but the movie itself, its been awhile since i pen down my reviews..

I was so excited to watch Martin Scorsese version of Infernal Affairs, and nope im not expecting it to live up to the Hong Kong's version because i believe a reputable director like him is already in his own league, his style of filmaking and everything.

Leonardo Dicaprio who team up again with Martin Scorsese played the character Billy Costigan. Honestly, this is by far my favorite character that he has potrayed! Although he has always been wise in choosing his roles to act, i always thought he was trying too hard by picking heavy materials. Albeit I like him in The Aviator and Catch me if you Can..
But this time, he doesnt look anything at all boyish and scrawny! His physical attributes looks good, and i think the bearded look works on him, he looks much wiser and somehow it plays a part in making the role work. I love seeing him delivering all the sharp lines that will impress you, and that he looks really manly bashing up other men or shooting their heads off! I never thought he was able to do good!

Other then him, you know you can expect a brilliant performance from Jack Nicholson you can count on him on being witty as a villain as well as a perverted old man who had too many sex for his own good! Mark Wahlberg was a pleasant surprise too!
I love his nonchalant character and how mean he was towards the other cops and all his lines consist a minimum of 2 'Fucks' and sounded pretty cool! Matt Damon did quite well as a villain, i never thought he could pull it off especially with his nice guy look but since he was disguise as a good cop it was great.

And Alec Baldwin (Ellerby) was my favourite scene stealer! A man who looks like a tough cop but he was the one with all the hilarious lines!! For example my fav was the one he had with Mark Wahlberg (Dignam)

Ellerby: Go fuck yourself.
Dignam: I'm tired from fucking your wife.
Ellerby: How is your mother?
Dignam: Good, she's tired from fucking my father.

You should watch how they acted in that scene! It was so damn funny!

Anyways, technical expect of the movie, Martin choses warm and dark tones though not too heavy on the eye and it wont bore you, loves the camerawork but certain scenes was cut either too late or early that actually disrupt the continuity especially the most obvious scene when Bill Costigan was being called by Castello man who got shot and dying on the sofa. The pace of the movie wasnt draggy at all. Soundtrack was ala Godfather but with a twang of light-hearted feel too it. And i really like Martin Scorsese last scene which was symbolic! The rat running along the railing that overlooked the Boston government building (im not so sure exactly what it was called)which depicts the corruption that occured. Overall, it was a movie well done and should not be compared to Infernal Affairs which is more flashy (but a totally impressive movie in its own way). Martin Scorsese has nail this movie! Go watch!

p/s: i miss workin on indie projects with my fav dudes ...
